Hotlanta

Jason had to go to Atlanta for a few days to fly the simulator down there. We had originally planned for him to drive it and we would go with him. It sounded like a fun, quick, get-away for our little family. He was scheduled to go sometime in August, but he got a phone call that they changed his schedule and he was given a day's notice. Well, we decided to join him still. It was a bit stressful for me to pack the kids and I in a few hours, but we managed. It's a ten hour drive from here and with all our stops for potty breaks and food, we still made it in just twelve hours.

Jason worked 7-3 each day, so I tried to find things for the kids and I to do during the morning, kept them on schedule with naps, then Jason was with us for dinner and some kind of fun activity in the evenings. We had a great time and the kids were wonderful little travelers. We're thinking this will be an annual trip for us!

Jason and I have always been curious about the town of Metropolis, IL. We decided to stop there on the drive down to get a few pictures and check out some of the superman stores.

Dinner at Steak and Shake in Marietta, GA was a necessity after a long day of traveling.

I took the kids to The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, GA while Jason was at work one day. It was a charming little museum, but we drove in a circle for over an hour before we found it. So, by the time we got there, it was very close to lunch time. We spent about an hour in the museum, which was perfect for my kiddos.

Jaxon driving the caboose (or caboost as he calls it) outside of the museum.

While shopping in the gift shop, I turned around to see Jaxon decorated with all kinds of southern paraphernalia.

Sissy was posing inside the caboose.

We tried to go to the Coca-Cola factory one evening after Jason got off work, but we hit some heavy traffic and didn't make it before close. Since we were already downtown, we decided to catch a Braves game.

Our last evening in Atlanta, we went to Stone Mountain, GA to see Stone Mountain Park. We ate a great meal and stayed until after dark for their laser light show on the mountain. We really enjoyed Stone Mountain and plan to go back the next time we're in Atlanta.

Her's Jax playing in a stream at Stone Mountain Park.

One of our last stops at a southern convenience store, we remembered to stock up on our favorite chips:
