Ok, I promised myself I wouldn't put quotes or phrases on here that might embarrass my kids in the future, so I'm hoping this one won't.
I teach the pre-school Sunday class at our church and, of course, Jaxon is in my class! It's really cool to have a front row seat in to his little social world and get to see him interacting with his peers. The three and four year olds say funny things all the time, but today it was my kid that gave me a laugh that I cannot stop thinking about.
I told the parable of the Good Samaritan and when I finished, I asked for examples of how we could be examples of this. Hands went in to the air and some shared ideas about being helpful by picking up toys around the house, one shared that his mom was a nurse and helped people all day (then suddenly 8 kids had mom's who were nurses and had to share). Well, we strayed from the topic a bit with the naming of the nurses, so to get back on track, I asked for one more example. When I saw my child's hand shoot in the air, I couldn't resist calling on him, hoping he would redeem my original question. Here is the response I got:
"This guy at my work, well this pretend guy at my work, got hurt by some bad guys, so the good guys came and helped him and took care of him."
The child was dead serious and I could not look at him with a straight face. Luckily, my husband decided to join me in teaching this week, so now we can share this laugh together. His imagination makes me smile so much!
