Let's Go Royals!!!!!

On our last day in Kansas, we went to a Royals game! Jaxon is the biggest Royals fan I know and a lover of the game of baseball. Since he was four years old, he has been able to name the Royals' entire starting roster, all of their numbers and positions, and the majority of the pitchers. The kid even knows most of the coaches names and what number they wear on their jerseys. Jason was beyond excited to share this day with Jaxon! Memaw treated us to 3rd row tickets, right next to Jason's (and one of Jaxon's) favorite player, Alex Gordon. It was such a fun afternoon.

My awesome family ready to cheer on the Royals.

The Royals biggest fan, ready for the game.
We got to the stadium about an hour early, so we would have time for the kids to do some of the activities in the kids area before the game started.

Jaxon raced against Billy Butler!
There is a little light to the left of Jaxon, the light is the speed Billy Butler runs.
The kids could choose from three players to race from home to first base.

Sissy chose to ride the carousel!

After batting at the Little K, Jax went out to left field to catch some balls.

Speaking of left field, look who played right in front of our seats!

Nobody sat in the front row, so Jason and Jaxon (and sometimes Dakota) made their way down there for the game. The couple sitting in the second row fell in love with our kids and it was their mission to get Jaxon a ball. They hollered at Alex Gordon anytime he had his hands on a ball. They would lift Jax, and try and show Gordon that Jaxon had a Gordon jersey on.

Eventually a ball was hit foul by one of the Houston Astros, and the bat boy recovered it and hand-delivered it to Jaxon. He was thrilled. By the last inning, Gordon finally noticed the racket in the second row. He took the ball he was warming up with and tossed it up, but it went way over our heads. So, he ran over to center field, found another warm-up ball and tossed it right to Jason. Made Jaxon's day! So yes folks, Jaxon went home with two balls. That makes a grand total of four Royals balls for him (if we include the two he snagged at Bush Stadium during the Royals batting practice last year). Please don't ask my husband how many MLB balls he has, it's a sore subject.

The ball from Gordon. His face says it all!

Of course Memaw had to treat the kids in the souvenir shop.

After the game, we all ran the bases!

The Royals dugout! So close I can smell the pine tar!!

Such a beautiful stadium! And the Royals beat the Astros!!

For the record, Aunt Ninny has been to games in three or four stadiums and has 0 MLB balls to show for it. None, zip, nadda, zilch. Lucky boy--I'm so jealous.
