Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's
Our first Christmas was Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's. We worked on the annual Christmas puzzle, and Grandma even had a smaller one for Page and Jax to do. Great Grandpa came too! We had a great day.

So excited about her new ride-on princess car. Grandpa had to get it out of the box right away so she could try it out.

Have I mentioned how much this girl loves clothes too? After trying to put the skirt on her head and shirt on her legs, Grandma helped Kota try on her new Hello Kitty outfit.

Christmas Morning
We had a very special Christmas morning. Jason was still awake (he's 10.5 hours ahead of us) when the kids woke up to open presents Christmas morning. So, we set up Skype and Daddy got to watch the kids open their presents from Mommy and Daddy and Santa. It was so special for him to get to see their reactions! We feel very blessed to have the technology that allows these awesome moments to happen.

Jaxon got a new crane for his Thomas the Train set from Mommy and Daddy. He and Daddy are both excited to build a really cool track as soon as Daddy gets home.

Jaxon is patiently waiting for Dakota to open her present from Santa. Santa's elves used self-stick wrapping paper and it was a pain to open the gifts from him. I hope he sticks to good 'ol fashioned regular paper and tape next year.

Memaw and Papa Schu's
Our third Christmas was with Memaw, Pap Schu, Aunt Ninny, Uncle Austin and Page.
Jax got some new jammies with fire trucks and police cars on them. And yes, that is Jason's son wearing shorts on Christmas morning. If you know his daddy well, you know that he wears shorts year round. I have given up on the argument with Jaxon already, seeing as his role model doesn't agree with my "must wear pants when it's below 60" rule.
Sissy got a new toothbrush in her stocking and didn't waste any time putting it to use. This girl LOVES to brush her teeth. Someone remind her of that in a few years when I'm begging her to do it.
CHEESE! Jax was super excited about his K State pillow pet and new K State hat. He also got some K State basketball shorts that he has not taken off (expect to wash at night) since Christmas.

She loved the reaction from everyone when she covered her face with the hat, so she walked around the room like this for quite awhile. You'll also notice that she's got one of her new shirts on. The girl loves to try on clothes (YES!!!).

Ouma and Oupa's
Our final Christmas was with Jason's family at Ouma and Oupa's house. The kids had fun with their 4 cousins; running through the house and playing hide-and-seek. They love opening presents, but they seem to enjoy watching their cousins' reactions to the presents they bought even more than opening their own gifts. They take a lot of pride in picking out the "perfect" gift for their cousins.

Decorating Memaw's Christmas Tree
Jaxon got to help Memaw decorate her Christmas tree this year. He had so much fun unwrapping each ornament and finding a home for it on the tree.
Jax took this picture of the stairway. He helped wrap the garland and lights and then he got to plug the lights in.

Festival of Lights
Some friends invited us for dinner and a drive through the East Peoria Festival of Lights last week. I felt very lucky to get to ride in the car through this amazing Christmas display while watching the looks on the kids faces, rather than drive my kids through it and have to concentrate on the cars around me. What a great gift.

Decorating Christmas Cookies with Friends
A few friends came over, just before Christmas, to eat pizza, watch The Polar Express, and eat sugar cookies. We had a great night with Uncle Jessica, Nolan and Griffin.
Each kid picked out their sugar cookie, then we gave them a bowl of frosting and let them pick what color they wanted their frosting to be. It seems like there wasn't as much frosting of cookies as there was this:

Santa!
I took the kids to Bass Pro Shop to see Santa yesterday. I was a little nervous how Dakota might react, based on her reaction to the hockey mascot, but they were both awesome. They slowly approached him, but warmed up quickly once they got on his lap. Jax asked for some Stars Wars and Sissy agreed to almost anything Santa asked her. I'm really hoping she agreed to a baby doll. I did videotape some of it, but you know my track record on posting videos...to be continued.
Have you been to the Winter Wonderland at Bass Pro? The experience is quite fun. There are several activities for the kids, including target practice, a letter writing station to write to Santa, a train, a small race track, and a coloring station. And not to mention, you get your Santa photo for free.
