Cars Birthday Party

After much debate over Star Wars and Cars, Jaxon chose a Cars-themed birthday party. We had a few close friends over, and Memaw drove up from Kansas, to help Jax celebrate.



I made cupcakes and put character rings on some of them for the kids to keep as souvenirs.





We had a pull-string Pinata and let the kids take turns pulling a string. It happened to be the very last string pulled that opened the Pinata!

As you can see, Jaxon was really excited about the Star Wars toy from Jared, Uncle Jessica, Nolan, Griffin and Nora.



All of the kids loved watching Jax open presents.

Our big guy is officially four!

Birthday with Memaw

Memaw drove up here for Jaxon's birthday and made it just in time to take him to dinner at Culver's! After we got home from dinner, it was time for more presents!

Yay for new basketball shorts! It doesn't matter what month it is or what the temperature outside is, this kid lives in shorts. If you know his daddy well, you know the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.



Bowling! We've had some fun with these already.



And off he goes with his new "suitcase" full of Hot Wheels. This is his second case, the first one is already full to the max.

Happy 4th Birthday Jaxon!

Jaxon turned four last week and we had a fun time celebrating with him. He has been so excited about turning four, and it was all he talked about for months leading up to his birthday. But on the actual day, he had some funny and peculiar behaviors. He came into our bedroom at 4:00am to report two "bad guys" fighting extremely loud in his bedroom. He assured us that he wasn't afraid, just having trouble sleeping over all their noise. When we all got up the next morning, Jason and I wished him a Happy Birthday and asked him what it felt like to be four. He quickly informed us that he wouldn't turn four until he walked into the living room. He then spent the next 30 minutes, or so, avoiding the living room. It was the funniest thing! After breakfast, he sighed and said, "Well, I guess I better go into the living room so I can be four." Jason and I laughed for quite awhile about that one.

Opening a new game from Aunt Nat, Uncle Jeremy, and Rowan - we LOVE games!! We play a game with Jaxon every night after we put Sissy to bed.

Hot Dog Spaghetti

This was a fun dinner Jason and Jaxon made the other night. Dakota loves hot dogs and Jaxon eats spaghetti noodles, so we were hoping that the combination would spark a new meal at our house. Dakota ended up pulling the spaghetti noodles out and eating the hot dogs and Jaxon tried a small bite of hot dog, but claims that he still does not like them.



Jason cut a hot dog into 6 slices, then (with Jason's help) Jaxon poked 5 spaghetti noodles into each hot dog slice.



After that, they put them into boiling water for a few minutes and this was the result:

Christmas with Daddy

So, because our favorite Daddy missed Christmas with us, we decided to have a Christmas when he got home. We left our Christmas tree and decorations up until he got home and we celebrated Christmas the day after his plane landed. I set aside a present for each of the kids to open from us, we got Daddy a few things, and then Jason opened gifts from family back in Kansas. We had a really special day!




When I asked Jaxon what he thought Daddy wanted for Christmas, he confidently answered, "a race car." So, we went to Wal Mart, where Jax picked out the perfect race car for his daddy. Then he came home and wrapped it all by himself.






Sissy got a xylophone.

Here's Jason opening his race car from Jax. They were both very excited about it! Jax was super excited when Jason told him that he didn't have anywhere to put it and asked if he could keep it with Jaxon's Hot Wheels.



Jason was super pumped about his new shirt from Page, Ninny and Austin. But Jenn, he can't find the tickets to the game anywhere, do you think they mistakenly didn't make it into the box? :)




And the best part of having Daddy home? All of the Christmas presents that have been sitting in boxes for a month have finally been put together! Thanks Daddy for taking time to put all of their toys together.

Sissy's kitchen from Memaw got put together! They have both spent hours playing with it.









And yesterday, Jax and Daddy put Jaxon's dune buggy together. And thanks to this unusual "winter" weather, the kids got to go outside today and play for a few hours. Jaxon is a wonderful, safe driver and very patient helping his sissy in and out of the car. As soon as I started to video them, my battery died. So here's a very short clip, I'm sure I'll get tons more this spring.

Sissy in Curlers

The other night, Dakota brought me the bag of sponge curlers. I asked her if she wanted me to put them in her hair and she (enthusiastically) said "Yes!". And, much to our surprise, she sat still while I put the curlers in her hair.

And it just occurred to me how very embarrassing that wall paper border is in the kids' bathroom. Their bathroom is on the "to update" list, but we just haven't gotten to it yet.
