Let's Go Royals!!!!!

On our last day in Kansas, we went to a Royals game! Jaxon is the biggest Royals fan I know and a lover of the game of baseball. Since he was four years old, he has been able to name the Royals' entire starting roster, all of their numbers and positions, and the majority of the pitchers. The kid even knows most of the coaches names and what number they wear on their jerseys. Jason was beyond excited to share this day with Jaxon! Memaw treated us to 3rd row tickets, right next to Jason's (and one of Jaxon's) favorite player, Alex Gordon. It was such a fun afternoon.

My awesome family ready to cheer on the Royals.

The Royals biggest fan, ready for the game.
We got to the stadium about an hour early, so we would have time for the kids to do some of the activities in the kids area before the game started.

Jaxon raced against Billy Butler!
There is a little light to the left of Jaxon, the light is the speed Billy Butler runs.
The kids could choose from three players to race from home to first base.

Sissy chose to ride the carousel!

After batting at the Little K, Jax went out to left field to catch some balls.

Speaking of left field, look who played right in front of our seats!

Nobody sat in the front row, so Jason and Jaxon (and sometimes Dakota) made their way down there for the game. The couple sitting in the second row fell in love with our kids and it was their mission to get Jaxon a ball. They hollered at Alex Gordon anytime he had his hands on a ball. They would lift Jax, and try and show Gordon that Jaxon had a Gordon jersey on.

Eventually a ball was hit foul by one of the Houston Astros, and the bat boy recovered it and hand-delivered it to Jaxon. He was thrilled. By the last inning, Gordon finally noticed the racket in the second row. He took the ball he was warming up with and tossed it up, but it went way over our heads. So, he ran over to center field, found another warm-up ball and tossed it right to Jason. Made Jaxon's day! So yes folks, Jaxon went home with two balls. That makes a grand total of four Royals balls for him (if we include the two he snagged at Bush Stadium during the Royals batting practice last year). Please don't ask my husband how many MLB balls he has, it's a sore subject.

The ball from Gordon. His face says it all!

Of course Memaw had to treat the kids in the souvenir shop.

After the game, we all ran the bases!

The Royals dugout! So close I can smell the pine tar!!

Such a beautiful stadium! And the Royals beat the Astros!!

Braden's 7th Birthday!

On the Saturday we were in Kansas, we decided to try and cram in some niece/nephew time. Page had a softball tournament that weekend, Wyatt had a t-ball game, and it also happened to be Braden's 7th birthday. So, the next three posts are all about how we spent our Saturday in Kansas.

After the ball games, Braden chose Chick-fil-A for dinner. Perfect choice - there is a play place for kids, and they have awesome food that adults WANT to eat! We ate, let the kids play some, then headed to Braden's house to eat birthday cake and watch Braden open gifts.

Opening his gift from us.

Darth!!

Little brother, Caleb, wanted to help blow the candles out.

Happy Birthday Buddy! So glad we were in town to help celebrate.

It didn't take long for him to realize these were trick candles.
So, everyone pitched in to blow, even though they continued to relight.

Wyatt's T Ball Game

We also got to watch one of Wyatt's t-ball games on Saturday.

One of Wyatt's fans.

Another of Wyatt's fans.

Wyatt up to bat, focused on hitting the ball.

Running home after his teammate hit the ball.
Practicing some grounders.

The throw!
After Wyatt's t-ball game, we had some time to kill before heading to Chick-fil-A to celebrate our nephew, Braden's, birthday. There was a nice playground at the park where Wyatt played, so we took the kids there to run around. And of course some of this happened:

Daddy, I want to do "Go State Go!"

Page's Softball Tournament

Page had a softball tournament the weekend we were in town, so we were able to catch her first game on Saturday morning. And they beat a team they have never beat before!!

Page looking for a perfect pitch.

One of Page's biggest fans!
Page's other biggest fan!

These two were so glued to the game.
They would have stayed to watch her play all day.

In the dugout.

Me and my beautiful niece, Page.

Page and her Uncle J.

After winning the first game, she put some eye black on for the next game.

Trying to leave the fields and Dakota spotted her new friend, Yogi.
She climbed right on her lap and made herself comfortable.

A Day at Memaw and Papa's

After two days of being on the go, we decided to spend our Friday in Kansas, relaxing. Jason woke up that morning with strep-throat-like symptoms, so the kids and I dropped him off at a walk-in clinic and then headed out to Memaw and Paps Schu's house. Jason ended up testing positive for strep, so he spent most of the day in bed, but the kids had plenty of entertainment! There were movies watched, four-wheeler rides, a lot of baseball played, and even some "swimming" in the hot tub.

In case you are unaware, Jaxon takes his baseball very serious. Very serious.
Here he is, as the Royals catcher, Salvador Perez, giving his pitcher a sign.

Even Sissy got in on some of the baseball fun!

Just as I was debating whether or not  to lay Dakota down for a nap, Aunt Ninny, Page, and Page's friend, Yogi, came out to say hi. The girls were quickly thrown into a game of baseball (bless their hearts, they had a double-header later that evening).

Page and Yogi getting ready to play ball with Jax.

Aunt Ninny up to bat as Jax continues to catch.

Jaxon's up to bat, Page moves to catcher.

Dakota lost interest in baseball and decided to blow bubbles instead.

Yogi and Page with our kiddos.

By the time the girls left, it was nearing dinner, so I sent the kids inside to cleanup and decide what they wanted to eat. While I was in the kitchen helping Memaw get dinner ready, I glanced in the living room and found this:

Sound asleep in Papa's arms. Guess she needed that nap after all.

Even my I-don't-need-a-nap-because-I'm-not-tired 5 year old fell asleep.

Petting Zoo

After spending the morning in an airplane, we grabbed a quick lunch at one of my favorite burger joints growing up (Blazer Burger) and then headed to Deanna Rose Children's Farm for the afternoon.

Jaxon and Dakota feeding the goats.

We took a ride on this horse-drawn wagon.

Dakota wanted to pet the horses and tell them "thank you" for the fun ride.

The crew: Caleb (2), Wyatt (5), Jaxon (5), Dakota (3), Rowan (8), Braden (7)

Hey! Would ya look at that!

Here's Dakota feeding a bottle to a baby goat.
