Just Stuff

When we send Aunts and Uncles and Grandmas and Grandpas birthday cards, Jaxon always gets to leave his "signature" on them. This is usually a few scribbles on the left side of the card and I ask him what he has written. Then I write the interpretation for the card receiver (in case they don't read scribbles). Well, Jax had his last Tee Ball game a few weeks ago and I had gotten his coaches each a thank you card with a little gift certificate to Starbucks. After I had completed the cards, Jax asked if he could write on them. I hesitated because I wasn't sure if two 17 year old girls (who have only known him for 5 or 6 weeks) would get a kick out of the personalized scribble the way grandparents do. But I love his heart and wanting to sign the card, so I let him. What happened next, I will never forget...

This is what my little man wrote. To some, it may look like scribbles. To Jaxon's mom, it looks like a National Honor Society member in the making. Ok, maybe just a three year old who pays attention. I think what surprised me the most isn't that a three year old is capable of this, but that I've never, EVER, practiced this with him. He "helps" me sign his name on cards, but I've always had complete control of the pen. If this doesn't look like anything to you, let me explain some. The first letter is an attempt at a "J", next is a lower case "A", followed by two "X's" (oh well), an "O" and a lower case "N". There might be an "O" at the end, but whatever! So proud!

That is just awesome that he is writing his name. I love the big camping chair could have used it this weekend.
