His lip started looking better by the next day. We kept ice and popcicles on it as much as possible and the swelling didn't stick around long. He never once acted like the swelling or the pain bothered him. He rarely touched it and ate normal.

Bumps, Bruises, Boys
Jaxon had his fourth ER visit a few months ago. Jaxon had shoes in both of his hands (bringing them to us, which is how he asks to go outside) and he tripped and fell. Because his hands were full, he had no way of catching his fall and ended up falling face first on to the hardwood floor. He bit his bottom lip pretty bad and after talking to the on-call flight doc, we decided to take him to the ER. The doc said mouths get infected very easily and she didn't want to risk an infection. Our dear friend Mae accompanied Jaxon and I, as Jason had to fly early the next morning. We didn't get to the ER until after 8:30 and finally left sometime after midnight (every child in Columbus seemed to be sick that night). He didn't need stitches, in fact it was already starting to heal by the time we finally saw a doctor, so we were sent home with a prescription to keep the infection out. He was a great sport and healed up nicely - only to do the same thing just a few days later, but hey who's counting?
Just minutes after his fall. His lip was just starting to swell a little at this point, so our next door neighbor came over with some popcicles.
Jax finally passed out on my shoulder after 3 hours at the ER (and we still hadn't seen a doctor).
